Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Central Executive Board (MYK) convened yesterday under the chairmanship of party leader and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım with deputy Chairman Cevdet Yılmaz reaffirming the AK Party's determinative stance against the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) and vowing to eliminate all Gülenists from the party.Speaking at a press conference after a three-and-a-half hour meeting, Yılmaz said that the AK Party continues to combat Gülenist infiltrators and urged other political parties to display similar determination against FETÖ members. The AK Party MYK also addressed the latest developments since the nine-day Qurban Bayram holiday, during which MYK members announced an investment and development initiative regarding Turkey's eastern and southeastern Anatolian regions, according to Yılmaz. Along with investment initiatives, AK Party members touched upon the reconstruction of Turkey's terror-stricken eastern and southeastern regions while providing shelter to locals affected by the PKK terror attacks in those regions.AK Party deputy Ayhan Sefer Üstün recently stated that it would be naive to claim that the Gülenists had not infiltrated the AK Party, also urging members of the party to begin expelling those members from the party immediately. In this respect, after the MYK meeting deputy Chairman Yılmaz told members of the press that, "comprehensive combat is needed as we have seen what July 15 has done to our country. … All institutions must begin the elimination [process] of these Gülenists. The AK Party is a political organization which intensely conducts its countermeasures against them," Yılmaz added, stressing that the AK Party has been diligently conducting countermeasures to combat the terror group for a long time and affirming that the party will continue to do so. He also urged all political parties to take a firm position as the AK Party and display unified sensibility: "We expect the Republican People's Party (CHP), the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and other political parties to display the same sensibility that the AK Party has long displayed [against the terror group]. The political sphere, like other institutions, may also be exposed to such [Gülenist] infiltration, and we are devoting all efforts to the prevention of such exposure," Yılmaz said, emphasizing that the AK party is the political party that is the least likely to be exposed to Gülenists but devotes most of its efforts to eliminating the terror group.Continuing on by stating that Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli provided further information on the recently introduced investment and development initiative regarding Turkey's eastern and southeastern Anatolia regions, Yılmaz said that the developments from Parliament's Constitutional Committee were not addressed as the committee members have yet to present the draft report to party leaders. In regards to the possible wrongful dismissal of public officers, Yılmaz assured that the government devotes all efforts to the prevention of wrongful victimization in accordance with the rule of law.
