PM Yıldırım to CHP leader: Solidarity is the only weapon against FETÖ, PKK

On Saturday, Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım criticized main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's recent remarks on the ongoing investigations into Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) members, inviting the CHP leader to take a more constructive and positive stance on government efforts against both FETÖ and the PKK terror organization. Speaking to reporters in Istanbul, Yıldırım said, "I invite Kılıçdaroğlu, once again, to have a more constructive and positive attitude regarding the divisive terror group [PKK] and in the fight against FETÖ terror, in accordance with the spirit of unity, solidarity and cooperation achieved at the Yenikapı [rally]."

The prime minister's words come after the CHP leader previously criticized the government saying that those responsible for bringing the FETÖ putschists who killed 240 people during the bloody July 15 coup attempt into power should be evaluated."Our aim is to exhaust all our efforts [to combat] the PKK terrorists and FETÖ coup plotters to prevent another coup attempt against Turkey," the prime minister said. Yıldırım also said that during their last meeting the CHP leader assured that he would stand with the government in the fight against FETÖ, noting: "Kılıçdaroğlu said that FETÖ is a dangerous terror group that has infiltrated all institutions in Turkey." Yıldırım stressed that the government remains diligent and conducts all investigations carefully.

Yıldırım highlighted that FETÖ is an extremely secretive organization and has mysterious connections, saying that Turkey will make every effort to right any wrongs and correct any mistakes once the threat has been eliminated, noting that there are necessary mechanisms and commissions in place to ensure justice for all.

Meanwhile, Yıldırım also addressed criticism raised by the CHP leader regarding foreign affairs, saying that Kılıçdaroğlu criticizes the government when foreign relations are bad and criticizes them when they are good, as well: "We have told [the Turkish] people one thing [about foreign relations]: To increase the number of friendships and decrease the number of enemies. We are doing what is necessary to achieve this both [domestically] and bilaterally."
