Gülenist military officer likens FETÖ to Daish

Lieutenant Colonel Levent Türkkan, the aide to the Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar, said in his testimony before the court that the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) is similar to Daish.

Testifying in court for the first time, Türkkan acknowledged that FETÖ is a terror group like Daish. He also said military officers that graduated in 1994, including Akın Öztürk, who was believed to be the number one suspect in the army, is not who the public thinks he is. Türkkan drew attention to the close affiliation between Gülenists and FETÖ leader Fetullah Gülen.

He admitted that Gülenists' babies are named by the terrorist leader. "My code name is Ahmet. They choose it. They even choose our children's names. Look, Gülenists' kids have two names. One from Pennsylvania [where Gülen resides], and the other from you [sic]," he said. Explaining the hierarchy within FETÖ, Türkkan said a man with the code name Adil, who is seen as the Chief of Staff by Gülenists, called him on July 13 to ask whether he knew of the president's and prime minister's addresses.

He went on to say Adil called him again a day before the coup attempt to notify him. According to Türkkan, Adil said: "Tomorrow, all generals, the president, the prime minister, ministers and around 100 bureaucrats will be apprehended."

Previously, Türkkan said in his initial testimony that he actively participated in the coup attempt, which was carried out by FETÖ members in the military.
