7 PKK terrorists killed in the ongoing anti-terror operations in Tunceli

At least seven PKK terrorists have been killed during anti-terror operations in the eastern province of Tunceli, the regional governor's office said late Tuesday.

An air-supported anti-terror operation started in the brook of Bali on Nov. 7 after security forces spotted a group of terrorists, reported the Anadolu Agency.

Following the anti-terror operation, seven bodies were recovered in a nearby field and sent to Tunceli Public Hospital for an autopsy.

Security forces seized infantry rifles, other heavy weapons and mines. Two shelters used by the terrorists were also destroyed. The operation in the region is still ongoing, the statement said.

The PKK's campaign - killing civilians in the name of freedom for Kurdish citizens in Turkey - is not a new one. It is responsible for roughly 7,000 civilian deaths since it was founded.

The PKK, which is listed as terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU, resumed its 30-year year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015. Ever since, more than 700 security forces members were killed, while nearly 8,000 PKK terrorists were killed.
