Turkish warplanes have destroyed four Daesh terrorist targets in the geographically important town of Al-Bab in Northern Syria, a military statement said late Thursday. The operation comes at a time that the city is on the verge of liberation from Daesh militants.

The aerial operation against the area was carried out between 02:00-02:09 p.m. local time, the statement said, adding that the four targets were destroyed completely and the jets returned to their bases in safety.Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters, in cooperation with the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), launched an offensive to take full control of the significant Syrian town of Al-Bab on Friday. Over the weekend, the Turkey-backed FSA surrounded the town from the west, enabling them to attack Daesh from two different fronts. Turkish warplanes provide aerial support to FSA troops in their bid to liberate the critical city from Daesh terrorists.Al-Bab's geographical importance stems from the fact that it is situated right in the epicenter of the battlefield. Four actors of the civil war in Syria, the moderate opposition, Assad regime, PYD and Daesh terrorists control some land around the city. Currently, the city is under Daesh control but the FSA fighters have come close to the liberation of the city. On the other hand, the PYD also wants to gain control of the city as it is on the route between the Azaz and Manbij pockets of the group, which aims to connect them. Assad regime also wants to take the under its control in order to move northward.
