Two Turkish soldiers killed, three others injured while clearing mine near al-Bab


Two Turkish soldier have died in an operation to clear out landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Daesh terrorists in an area southeast of northern Syria's al-Bab, the military said on Friday.The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said in a statement that the two soldiers died in an explosion while clearing landmines at an intersection near the town of Tadef, which is located southeast of al-Bab, it also added that three others were injured.

The wounded soldiers were immediately brought to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The army conveyed its condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and wished for the speedy recoveries of the wounded.

The Turkish army is supporting FSA fighters in liberating al-Bab, a strategic city for Daesh, from the terrorist group. The military action is part of the Turkish-led Operation Euphrates Shield, which began in late August to improve security, support coalition forces, and eliminate the terror threat along Turkey's border using FSA fighters backed by Turkish artillery and jets.

On Thursday, the Turkish Military announced that Operation Euphrates Shield was in its final stage of clearing al-Bab of terrorists.
