An exclusive story in the Hürriyet daily revealed on Monday that many Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) members have been illegally crossing the Turkish-Greek border disguised as Syrian refugees.

According to locals living in the Turkish border towns of Karayusuflu and Serem, many FETÖ members have been making their way there to illegally cross into Greece. A local contended that Gülenists dress themselves as Syrian refugees and pretend that they do not speak Turkish.

A former employee working for the municipality said that it is impossible to tell the difference between Syrian refugees and FETÖ members. "Because they dress like Syrians. Women have dresses like Syrian Arabs and the men have beards," he said.

The former employee said that there are also PKK, Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) terrorists as well as Afghans willing to cross into Greece.

Previously, seven FETÖ members including police officers in October 2016 were extradited to Turkey after they were captured in the back of a truck traveling to Romania from Bulgaria. The suspects were taken into custody in the northwestern city of Edirne bordering Bulgaria, five days after they were nabbed in Bulgaria.

FETÖ, which has seen members and sympathizers dismissed from state institutions, including the police and judiciary over the past three years, was designated by Turkish authorities as a national security threat and classified as a terrorist group.

Members of the terrorist group have been attempting to flee the country after the government clamped down heavily on the whole structure.
