According to a recent Interior Ministry report on the PKK terrorist organization's abuse of children and women, 30 percent of those who joined the PKK between 2013 and 2016 were under the age of 18.

The report indicated that, "The PKK, which has been using children since the early 1990s, has benefited from the legal immunity of children."

Furthermore, the report drew attention to the fact that 20 percent of children, who are fighting for the People's Protection Units (YPG), another branch of the PKK in Syria, joined the terrorist group after being deceived by the PKK.

The report also emphasized that 11,133 terrorists participated in PKK terrorist activities, whereas 1,949 terrorists between the ages of 15 to 18 surrendered to security forces, according to the report.

In addition, the report underlined that the children who became criminals in cities were later transferred to the mountain cadres.

In light of the report, children were used for intelligence, as well as for black propaganda to increase the number of PKK supporters. Many children who were transferred to the mountains were trained to create a new ideologically hostile generation against the Turkish state to provide loyal individuals to the PKK.

Stressing that the PKK is trying to keep up with its human deficits by increasing the participation of children in the terrorist group, the report underlined that the PKK engaged in getting the support of the people by making propaganda with the families that lost their children in the armed conflicts.

Meanwhile, addressing the sexual abuse issue in the PKK, the report indicated that the PKK members who criticized the ringleader, Abdullah Öcalan, in regards to sexual abuse, have been executed on the grounds that they are spies.
