Deputy PM: Kurds to vote ‘yes' in response to PKK suppression

Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş has said on Tuesday that the "Kurdish people who are fed up with the PKK and its affiliates" will substantially vote "yes" in the upcoming April 16 referendum on the proposed constitutional amendment package, even though the terrorist organization is coercing them to vote "no."

Speaking in northern Ordu province, Kurtulmuş said that the proposed system will clear the way to a better future for Turkish citizens.

The deputy prime minister drew attention to the recent statements of the PKK leader about casting a "no" vote, saying that despite the expectations of the terror organization, Kurdish citizens will ultimately help the "yes" campaign prevail."They [PKK leaders] are saying that ‘if the ‘yes' vote prevails, the PKK will finish by de facto, thus compelling them to convince the Kurdish people to vote ‘no,' even though they do not know that the majority of our Kurdish brothers will vote ‘yes' and pave the way for Turkey's prosperity," he said.

On March 23, a female PKK senior, Evindar Ararat, said in a televised interview with the Fırat news agency (ANF) that a win for the "yes" camp would deal a major blow to the outlawed PKK terrorist organization.

She also said they will carry out some heavy campaigning in favor of the "no" vote, claiming that the PKK must say "no" in order to "stop the existing regime" in Turkey.
