Police have detained four suspected PKK terrorists as part of an ongoing counter-terror operation in Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district, reports said on Tuesday.

In cooperation with Istanbul Police Special Operations Team, counter-terror police conducted raids on the houses of the suspects, who were reportedly planning to carry out bomb attacks.

The suspects had reportedly participated in illegal demonstrations of the PKK terrorist organization.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S., EU and Turkey, claims to fight for Kurdish self-rule in southeastern Turkey, and has killed thousands of civilians in more than three decades of terror attacks. More than 4,000 security personnel and over 2,000 civilians have also been injured by the terrorist group.
