Security forces have successfully captured more than a dozen of anti-tank weapons during operations in Turkey's southeastern Şırnak province.

According to information released by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) on Monday, 15 RPG-7 anti-tank weapons were seized during the operations in rural areas of the province.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, three Turkish soldiers were killed and five others were injured during counterterror operations in the Küpeli Mountains, also known as the Gabar Mountains, in Turkey's southeastern Şırnak province, the Şırnak governorate said Tuesday.

Soldiers were carrying out search operations against the PKK terrorist group in the Küpeli Mountain region, when an improvised explosive device (IED) that had been previously planted by PKK terrorists was detonated.

The injured soldiers were immediately taken via helicopter to the Şırnak State Hospital for medical treatment.

Founded in 1978, the PKK has waged a decades-long bloody campaign against Turkey.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.

Since then, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 security personnel and scores of civilians, including women and children. In addition, over 4,000 security personnel and over 2,000 civilians have been injured.
