The Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) peshmerga Commander of Sinjar Kasım Dırbo said approximately 50 military and political senior officials of the PKK are leaving their arms and returning to their hometowns."The PKK continues to lose power in Sinjar. Lastly, approximately 50 senior officials from the terrorist organization left their arms and returned to their homes," said Dırbo in a statement he shared on the official web page of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.Stating that the militants contacted him, Dırbo indicated that these 50 militants left the terrorist organization of their own accord."These militants were always disseminating propaganda through the PKK's media organs and trying to make an impact on the Yazidi community. Now, there is no activity and they have all turned back to their families," said Dırbo, while informing that these PKK members received both military and political education in Qandil for three months.Dırbo also said that 500 Yazidi people who left the PKK before had joined the peshmerga forces. "For the first 500 Yazidi groups, the military education was provided and their salaries were paid. A little while ago, 100 Yazidi people revealed their desire to join the peshmerga forces by entering it."Meanwhile, the PKK has been expanding its aims in Sinjar since 2014, during which Daesh attacked the Yazidis and the PKK used it as an excuse to enter the region.
