Arab tribes clash with PKK over killing of civilians

Militants from the PKK terror organization's Syria affiliate, the Democratic Union Party (PYD), clashed with local Arab tribes in northern Syria's Hasakah province, Anadolu Agency reported late Wednesday.

According to AA, the tribal members of the Shedad district reacted to the PKK/PYD elements killing a civilian, resulting a clash between the tribal members and the PKK militants.

Sources say that the conflict resulted in dead and wounded, during the clashes that lasted about three hours, but the number is not yet clear.

Sources also indicate that the tribes surrounded some of the PYD/PKK headquarters within the Shaded district and that that the terrorist organization has built up forces around the county and closed the entrances and exits.

Despite the mediation efforts of some opinion leaders in the region, it has been learned that the tension still continues in the region.

The local sources noted that the Shaded people were long indignant at the PYD/PKK because of arbitrary arrests, compulsory military service, and attributed to the accusation that they were members of the Daesh terror group.

Daesh withdrew from Shedad in February 2016, after violent clashes and left the area to the PYD/PKK. The PYD/PKK has been forcing the locals into mandatory military service while the Arabs and Turkmens are exposed to forced immigration, arbitrary arrest and torture in areas controlled by the PKK in the north of Syria.
