At least 10 terrorists were killed in airstrikes carried out against the PKK terror group in northern Iraq, Turkish General Staff said Sunday.

The military statement said the counter-terrorism air raid hit terror targets in Zap and Sinat-Haftanin regions.

Four hideouts used by the terrorists and three weapon pits were also destroyed in the airstrikes, the statement read.

The air force has been conducting regular airstrikes on PKK facilities in both northern Iraq and Turkey since July 2015, when the terror group resumed its decades-old armed campaign.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.

Founded in 1978, the terrorist group resumed its decades-long armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, more than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives, while the terrorist group has lost some 10,000 militants, who were either killed or apprehended in anti-terror operations by the Turkish security forces.
