15 PKK terrorists killed in clashes, airstrike in Turkey and Iraq

A total of 15 PKK terrorists were killed during anti-terror operations in eastern Turkey and northern Iraq, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said in statement.

Three PKK terrorists were killed in an airstrike in northern Iraq's Matina region, which was launched Thursday around 10:50 a.m. upon receiving intelligence and targeted terrorists in preparation for an attack, the statement elaborated.

An arsenal belonging to the terrorist organization was also destroyed during the anti-terror operation in the region.

Meanwhile, nine other PKK terrorists were killed during clashed in eastern Turkey's Tendürek region.

The TSK launched an anti-terror operation in the nearby district of Çaldıran, which is located in Van province, after terrorists set fire to three trucks on May 24.

During clashes between Turkish search units and PKK terrorists in the region, four soldiers and one village guard were killed, while four other soldiers were injured.

The wounded soldiers were immediately brought to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The anti-terror operation continues in the region, the statement added.

A total of 3 PKK terrorists were captured dead in the Şemdinli district of southeastern Hakkari province during anti-terror operations, while one soldier was killed in clashes.

Another soldier was killed during clashes in Şemdinli district of southeastern Hakkari province, the statement said.

Founded in 1978, the PKK has waged a decades long bloody campaign against Turkey.

The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, resumed its armed campaign in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.

Since that time, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 security personnel and civilians, including women and children, while more than 4,000 security personnel and over 2,000 civilians have been injured.
