Coup plotters in blame game: Gülenist generals accuse one another in court

Former General Staff Chief of Personnel Gen. İlhan Talu and a suspect in the trial related to the takeover of army headquarters during the Gülenist Terror Group's (FETÖ) July 15 coup attempt last year, got into a blame game with former General Staff Personnel Planning Administration Head of Departments Brig. Mehmet Partigöç, claiming that he spent is life fighting against the FETÖ structure.

Talu added that he had informed intelligence services about Partigöç's illegal activities, but failed to get any response.

He claimed that initial information regarding Partigöç came from a website in 2015. Talu himself prepared a file based on it and presented it to the Chief of General Staff. He had also expressed his willingness to share this information with the court.

"The Chief of General Staff said that he does not believe the information that I previously presented about Partigöç. All commanders agreed on 'not losing this successful and promising officer.' Despite the commanders' confidence on Partigöç, I asked the National Intelligence Service (MİT) to do more research on the issue. But, the result was the same as the previous one," said Talu.

He also claimed that he had worked with every commander except the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces on determining who was connected toFETÖ or the ones who will be retired at the next Supreme Military Council.
