Two Turkish soldiers were killed and three others injured after PKK terrorists launched an attack on Friday on a gendarmerie base zone in southeastern Şırnak province's Uludere district.

According to the sources, terrorists attacked the base around 05:00 p.m. local time with rocket launchers and automatic weapons, killing two soldiers in the clashes.

A military helicopter carried the injured soldiers to Şırnak State Hospital from the mountain region of Uludere as Turkish security forces launched a large-scale operation to capture the terrorists on the run.

Earlier on Friday, a car bomb attack targeted a gendarmerie station in southeastern Batman province, killing a 22-year-old teacher and injuring at least one other civilian.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 people, including women and children.
