4 PKK terrorists killed in airstrike in Turkey's Şırnak province

Four PKK terrorists were killed in an airstrike on Kato Mountain located in Turkey's southeastern Şırnak province, a General Staff statement said Saturday morning.

According to the statement, the airstrikes were carried out after drones spotted terrorists who were preparing for an attack.

A total of 14 PKK terrorists have been killed since the beginning of Operation Maj. Gen. Aydoğan Aydın, named after a gendarmerie commander in Şırnak killed in a May 31 helicopter crash.

Maj. Gen. Aydın was the commander of the 23rd Gendarmerie Border Division Command in Şırnak, and took part in many successful operations in Northern Iraq against the PKK.

The statement added that on June 5-9, Turkish forces located 10 terrorist hideouts in caves and seized an M-16 infantry rifle, two sniper rifles, 26 AK-47s, and several hand grenades and bombs, as well as food and 650 liters of diesel oil.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-long armed campaign in July 2015.
