Huge haul of weapons seized in military operations

A huge amount of ammunition and materials belonging to PKK terrorists was seized in the Kato Mountains in southeastern Turkey during military operations between June 10-13, a statement by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said yesterday.

According to the statement, the materials and arms were found in 112 caves that were used by PKK terrorists.

The arms include mortars, machine guns, rifles, rocket launchers, night vision glasses and ammunition.

In May, the U.S. provided many heavy weapons including mortar shells, heat-seeking missiles, heavy machine guns, automatic weapons, heavy automatic weapons, armored vehicles and tanks to the PKK's Syrian offshoot the People's Protection Units (YPG).

Ankara harshly criticized the U.S. decision, saying the weapons could be delivered past Turkish borders to use against security forces.
