PKK terrorists continue to attack civilians in the southeast, including kidnapping and killing locals, critical politicians and other government civil servants.In the group's most recent attack against civilians, the group kidnapped and killed a villager early Sunday in southeastern Hakkari province, police sources said.Sami Çiftçi was kidnapped from his home in Çatalca village in Hakkari's Şemdinli district, according to sources that cannot be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media. PKK terrorists then took the man far away from his home in the Güvenli area and shot him dead, sources said.Police have launched an investigation into the incident.Last week, another civilian, Tayyip Fidan, who is a shepherd and the father of two village guards, was abducted and killed in the southeastern province of Şırnak. It was revealed that Fidan was kidnapped by PKK members, while taking his animals out to pasture, shot and later left in a remote part of the city.The group killed a teacher, Aybüke Yalçın, in Batman province, and Necmettin Yılmaz in Tunceli province last month, as well as two district-level politicians from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) earlier this month as part of its campaign of assassinations targeting Kurdish political figures who refuse to adhere to its policies in the region.On June 16, Necmettin Yılmaz was attacked, kidnapped and later killed by the PKK. He was traveling to Gümüşhane from Şanlıurfa where he was working as a teacher. His charred car was later found in Pülümür Valley in Tunceli province, and his body was discovered near a creek in the valley last week, the Tunceli governor's office confirmed after a series of forensics tests in Istanbul.The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, broke the ceasefire unilaterally and resumed its armed campaign against the state in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.In early July, two AK Party district deputy heads were also killed in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır and the eastern province of Van in two separate incidents. AK Party Deputy district head Orhan Mercan was shot in an armed attack in front of his home by armed PKK terrorists in Diyarbakır's Lice district. In a separate incident, the PKK abducted Aydın Ahi, the AK Party deputy head of the Özalp district in eastern Van province, from his home; he was later found killed. More than 10 bullets reportedly struck Ahi before he died.Anti-terror ops continue against the PKK Meanwhile, an operation against the PKK in southeastern Diyarbakır province was completed early Sunday, according to military sources. In the operation, 1.2 million tons of ammonium nitrate were seized, and a PKK shelter was destroyed. In addition, five hand grenades, 205 kilograms (452 pounds) of marijuana and around 23,000 cannabis roots were seized. Drug trafficking is among the group's largest financial resources.In an operation, a total of six PKK terrorists were killed in southeastern Siirt province, according to a Turkish General Staff statement on Saturday. The statement said PKK terrorists opened fire on Turkish soldiers in the rural area of Siirt's Pervari district early Friday, while the soldiers were passing through the area. The soldiers immediately responded, and one terrorist was killed. Late Friday, an air-supported operation was launched against the terrorists in the same area, who were preparing to attack military posts. Five terrorists were killed in the operation.
