Five PKK terrorists were killed in a Turkish airstrike on southeastern Hakkari province's Şemdili district, the military said on Saturday.

A statement by the Turkish Armed Forces said a group of terrorists was located by a drone, which was followed by an anti-terror operation.

Turkey was shaken by a terror attack on Friday that killed Eren Bülbül, a 15-year-old boy, while he was helping gendarmes track PKK terrorists in Maçka, a town 22 kilometers (14 miles) south of the Black Sea city of Trabzon.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including women and children.
