Forty-three PKK terrorists were killed in anti-terror operations in southeastern Turkey during the past week, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said Saturday in a written statement.

The operations were conducted in the southeastern provinces of Hakkari, Şırnak and Diyarbakır between August 17 and 24, the statement elaborated.

Firearms, bomb-making material, small-arms ammunition, improvised explosive devices and shelters used by the terrorists were also destroyed during the operations.

The financial sources of the terrorist organization were also targets of the offensive. More than 100,960 packets of contraband cigarettes were seized.

The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU, resumed its armed campaign in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.

Since that time, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 security personnel and civilians, including women and children, while more than 4,000 security personnel and over 2,000 civilians have been injured.
