Police detain 14 PKK terror group suspects in Istanbul raids

Istanbul police have detained 14 PKK suspects in simultaneous anti-terror operations across 12 districts Saturday.

Counter terror squads have raided hideouts in several districts and have seized weapons, ammunition and digital as well physical data related to the terror group.

The suspects were reportedly taken for interrogation to the police headquarter located on the Vatan Avenue of the Fatih district.

Founded in 1978, the PKK has waged a decades-long bloody campaign against Turkey.

The group, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, resumed its armed campaign in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.

Since that time, it has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 security personnel and civilians, including women and children, while more than 4,000 security personnel and over 2,000 civilians have been injured.
