Nineteen PKK terrorists have been killed, 25 have been detained in nationwide anti-terror operations by Turkish security forces in the past week, the interior ministry said in a statement Monday.

According to the statement, a total of 570 operations were carried out with special operations teams from the gendarmerie and police, as well as commando units.

Seventeen shelters and hideouts used by PKK terrorists have been destroyed in Muş, Bitlis, Diyarbakır, Erzincan, Tunceli and Hakkari provinces, the interior ministry said, adding that security forces seized 2 tons of food supplies, 30 weapons and 362 kilograms of explosive substances, eight hand grenades and 6,287 pieces of ammunition.

A total of 104 improvised explosive devices were also destroyed in the operations.

Founded in 1978, the PKK has waged a decades long bloody campaign against Turkey.

The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, resumed its armed campaign in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.

Since that time, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of some 1,200 security personnel and civilians, including women and children, while more than 4,000 security personnel and over 2,000 civilians have been injured.
