The soldier, who did not take part in the May 31 assault, admitted he stole a laptop and camera lenses from the ship which was aiming to breach Israel's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid to the impoverished Palestinian territory. Itai Asael, a prosecutor of the Israel military court, said, "The accused took valuable electronic property from the ship while searching and cleaning up on the Mavi Marmara in June." The soldier -- a squad commander -- was fined 700 shekels ($200) and demoted to the rank of private under a plea-bargain agreement in addition to the jail term. -CIHAN-
