Turkey offers support to establish state structure in Somalia

Turkey’s Mogadishu Ambassador Cemalettin Kani Torun recently stated, “We want to bring in experts from Turkey in order to create a state structure in Somalia.”

Explaining that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Mogadishu on August 19th, 2011 was a turning point for Somalia, Torum states, "Over the past year, the Turkish Republic has begun to assist in development activities while also providing aid. In addition to building roads, schools and hospitals we are also working on rebuilding the state. There is no operating state mechanism here. Hopefully, we will be able to do all that we can on this issue. We are bringing experts from Turkey to help establish a new state structure in Somalia, which will hopefully become an operating government mechanism.
