Barzani: We support the resolution process in Turkey

Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraqi Kurdistan Barzani expressed his support for the ongoing resolution process in Turkey.



Nechirvan Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraqi Kurdistan expressed his support for the ongoing resolution process in a press conference held in Erbil. In response to a question from reporters regarding the PKK withdrawing from Turkey's borders and into Northern Iraq as part of the ongoing resolution process, Barzani stated the following:

"Political-wise Kurdistan has supported the peace process from the very first day. We want to support this project while also refrain from interfering in Turkey's internal affairs. Bringing the PKK to Kurdistan is not a small task. We are in favor of Turkey solving its Kurdish issue through peaceful means. We are prepared to provide any form of assistance in order to ensure this process is completed positively."

In other news, PKK-affiliated websites have reported that the imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan has allegedly sent a letter to Iraqi President Jalal Talabani which stated, "Once you recover your health as soon as possible, I would like for you to witness the ongoing peace process for yourself."
