The Saudi-led coalition battling Yemen's Houthis said Monday it was dealing with drones and missiles heading toward Saudi Arabia, as hostilities with the Iran-aligned Yemeni group persist.
State-backed broadcaster Al Ekhbariya reported that the military coalition was responding to a missile and drone threat but did not specify where the projectiles were headed.
"The coalition is currently dealing with a threat involving drones and cruise missiles targeting the kingdom," the broadcaster said.
The latest report of attacks comes amid escalating hostilities between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthis, with airports and other civilian and energy facilities targeted in recent days.
On Sunday afternoon, an unidentified projectile struck King Khalid International Airport's Terminal 4 in Riyadh, killing a Pakistani resident and injuring 11 others, according to Saudi authorities.
The Saudi-led coalition also said it intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile near the airport.
A day earlier, on Saturday, a Houthi attack struck a passenger terminal at the airport, killing 13 people and injuring 309 others, according to Saudi authorities.
The Saudi-led coalition accused the Houthis of carrying out Saturday's attack and described the strike as a "full-fledged war crime."
