On an unforgettable night, I was among the audience. Kenan Doğulu brought his beloved hits to the stage this time in symphonic arrangements as part of Symphonity, accompanied by an 88-piece symphony orchestra. At two special nights held at the Istanbul Congress Center, Doğulu delivered a multi-layered concert experience by combining stage energy with the grandeur of classical music, blending them into one powerful performance.
A very beautiful moment happened at the concert. A big surprise shocked the first fans who arrived at the venue. Three close friends, unaware of anything, arrive at the hall. Because they were the first to arrive, an official comes and says, "Since you are the first arrivals, we will introduce you to Kenan Doğulu.” They then met Doğulu and took a commemorative photo. This was a very nice gesture. Congratulations to Doğulu’s team.
During the concert, a total of 17 beloved songs, including "Baş Harfi Ben,” "Yüzsüz Yürek,” and "Ara Beni Lütfen,” were reborn with symphonic interpretations. Each piece was elevated to a different emotional level with powerful orchestral arrangements, offering the audience both a familiar and completely new musical experience.
The internationally renowned maestro Antonio Pirolli’s experience and interpretation elevated the orchestra’s impact on stage to its peak, while Ercüment Orkut, who served as musical director and handled all arrangements, gave the project a contemporary musical identity. Guest musicians included Ozan Doğulu on piano, Tolga Bilgin on trumpet, and Engin Recepoğulları on tenor and soprano saxophone.
Throughout the two nights, music lovers filling the hall became part of not just a concert, but a layered symphonic experience ranging from emotion to rhythm. Doğulu’s beloved songs were brought back to life with orchestral grandeur and received great applause from the audience. Supported by visual design, stage concept, and orchestral richness, the performance offered striking moments both visually and musically.
Mero in Mecca
With stage lights, millions of views, harsh lyrics and a fast lifestyle, modern rap culture often opens the door to a flashy world. But sometimes, one image can change the entire perception. German-based famous rapper Mero did not make headlines with a new song or concert performance this time. In images circulating on social media, Mero was seen reading Surah Al-Qiyamah from the Quran with a close friend in a mosque in Mecca after prayer during Umrah.
(This surah, revealed in Mecca, consists of 40 verses. It is named after the word "al-qiyamah” mentioned in its first verse.)
While rap music has long been associated with tough images, luxury lifestyles and aggressive lyrics, the popularity of such a simple and spiritual moment actually reflects what society is longing for. People no longer just want to see "celebrities,” they want authenticity, sincerity and artists who have not lost their inner self.
There was no sense of staging, advertising or showiness in Mero’s images. On the contrary, there was a very natural and calm atmosphere. That is why the footage quickly spread on social media. Especially among young listeners, comments such as "It is nice to see the spiritual side of the artist” and "He has not lost himself in fame” stood out.
In today’s digital world, artists are often role models not only through their music but also through their lifestyles. Therefore, the messages given by names that reach millions are very important. Rap music, once seen only as a symbol of rebellion, now also carries different identities and emotions. Spirituality, inner reflection and the real side of life are increasingly finding their place in the new generation of rap culture.
Perhaps the reason these images became so talked about is exactly this: people now value genuine, heartfelt moments more than artificial trends. And sometimes, a few verses recited in a mosque can have a greater impact than million-view stage shows. Congratulations to Mero for being a good example for young people.
Şebnem Ferah returns to stage
Şebnem Ferah, who announced her return to the stage after six years, created a shock wave in the music world with her very first concert announcement. Tickets for the concert to be held on June 3, 2026, at KüçükÇiftlik Park sold out completely just 12 minutes after going on sale. From later in the night, fans began calling out on social media: "Help us, we can’t find tickets,” and you can imagine the phone chaos of people asking me for tickets.
Due to the artist’s long absence from the stage, the concert announcement became one of the most talked-about topics on social media throughout the day. Thousands of posts were shared, especially on Instagram and X, and a digital line of 280,000 people formed in ticketing systems. This figure is considered one of the largest digital queues ever seen for a female rock artist in Türkiye.
Şebnem Ferah’s years-long break from live performances turned the concert from a simple event into a historic reunion. While many fans spent the night on the phone trying to get tickets, some people reportedly called dozens of contacts for help.
This development, which also created a huge impact in the music industry, once again revealed the longing for live music in Türkiye. The extraordinary demand for the return of rock music, awaited for years by its audience, has led organizers to consider the possibility of additional concerts.
Şebnem Ferah’s stage return night is already being described as one of the most important music events of the year.
