Amed Sportif have turned their home ground into a fortress and climbed to the top of the Süper Lig after an impressive opening six matches in their first season in Türkiye's top division.
The new Diyarbakır kid on the block entered the international break with 13 points from six games, having won four, drawn one and lost one. Their 3-2 victory over Beşiktaş on Sunday completed a perfect four-match home record and sent them to the summit on goal difference.
Amed Sportif have collected all 12 of their home points, beating Erzurumspor FK 3-0, Trabzonspor 2-1, Başakşehir 5-0 and Beşiktaş 3-2.
Their only defeat came away from home, a 2-0 loss at Kocaelispor, while they earned a 2-2 draw at Kasımpaşa. Across those six matches, Amed Sportif have scored 15 goals and conceded seven.
Their latest victory was the most significant yet.
Gift Orban opened the scoring against Beşiktaş in the 13th minute before Dia Saba doubled the advantage nine minutes later. Dusan Vlahovic pulled one back for the visitors shortly after halftime, but Furkan Soyalp restored Amed Sportif's two-goal cushion in the 59th minute.
Beşiktaş made the closing stages tense when Orkun Kökçü converted a penalty in the eighth minute of stoppage time, but Amed Sportif held on for a victory that lifted them to 13 points.
The result also underlined Amed Sportif's strength at home. They have scored 13 goals in their four home matches while conceding only three, with clean sheets against Erzurumspor and Başakşehir.
Orban leads the charge
Much of Amed Sportif's attacking threat has been driven by Nigerian striker Gift Orban.
The 24-year-old has scored seven goals in six league appearances and shares the top spot in the Süper Lig scoring race with Trabzonspor's MohAmed Sportif Salah, according to contemporary league reports.
Orban was quiet during Amed Sportif's first two matches but has scored in each of his last four appearances.
He opened his account in stoppage time against Trabzonspor before scoring twice in the 2-2 draw at Kasımpaşa. He then produced a hat trick in Amed Sportif's 5-0 demolition of Başakşehir and added another goal against Beşiktaş.
His seven goals account for nearly half of Amed Sportif's 15 league goals, while he has also contributed two assists, further underlining his influence on the club's fast start.
Dia Saba has added three goals, while Gökhan Gül, Yira Sor, Mbaye Diagne and Furkan Soyalp have each scored once. Amed Sportif also benefited from an own goal by Başakşehir defender Emin Bayram in the 5-0 victory.
Remarkably, Kocaelispor are the only opponent Amed Sportif have failed to score against. That match also remains their only defeat of the campaign.
Amed Sportif's biggest remaining challenge is to reproduce their home form on the road.
Besnik Hasi's side have taken just one point from their two away matches so far, losing at Kocaelispor before drawing at Kasımpaşa. Their next opportunity will come after the international break when they travel to face Gençlerbirliği in Week 7.
