A volunteer for a Turkish humanitarian organization in Gaza was killed in an Israeli strike on Sunday, with the victim identified as Saqr Nabil Musa Qaisi, who was working in Gaza for the Türkiye-based Deniz Feneri Association.

Qaisi was killed when an Israeli strike hit a vehicle in the southern Gaza Strip, according to Al-Aqsa Hospital.

Deniz Feneri is a Turkish humanitarian organization that provides aid to Palestinians in Gaza, including food, hot meals, hygiene supplies, tents, blankets and financial assistance.

The organization has continued its humanitarian work in the Gaza Strip, where people face a severe humanitarian crisis following years of conflict.

According to the U.N., at least 588 aid workers, including U.N. staff, nongovernmental organization (NGO) workers and Palestine Red Crescent Society staff and volunteers, have been killed in Gaza between Oct. 7, 2023, and Feb. 9, 2026. The U.N. has repeatedly stressed that humanitarian and medical workers must be protected under international humanitarian law.

The latest killing comes amid continued Israeli military operations in Gaza despite a cease-fire announced last year. Gaza’s Health Ministry says Israeli forces have killed more than 1,440 people since the cease-fire began.
