Talks mediated by the United States between Ukrainian and Russian officials in Geneva on Tuesday were described as "very tense” by a source close to the Russian delegation, though discussions are expected to continue Wednesday.

"They were very tense. They lasted six hours. They have now concluded. It has been agreed to continue tomorrow (Wednesday)," the source told reporters on the condition of anonymity.

"That's all for today," the source said.
