The consumer confidence index in Turkey declined slightly in September, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) report released yesterday. The index, which was 74.44 points in August, mildly slipped to 74.29 points, or down 0.2 percent/0.15 points in September, the report said. In August, the index saw a sharp increase of 11.1 percent to reach 74.44 points, up from 67.03 points in July when a coup attempt was successfully foiled by the Turkish people. The consumer confidence index is seen as a vital gouge for the overall health of the economy, indicating people's sentiments about spending their money.
