Saudi Arabian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ali al-Naimi said Saudi Arabia can become a global power in solar and wind energy, and export electricity instead of oil. Speaking at the Climate Summit in Paris, Naimi said that as an oil giant, Saudi Arabia sooner or later will not have fossil fuels and will therefore focus on becoming a global player in solar and wind energy, and export electricity instead of oil. Naimi did not suggest an exact date about when the production of fossil fuels would end, saying that it might be possible after 2040 or 2050.
