Two middle school students from Bursa managed to produce electrical energy by using the rain water they collected from a roof as a part of a science project for school. Ahmet Emir Ceylan and Mehmet Enes Erdem of Dilek Özer Middle School prepared their project "Collect Rain Water, Produce Electricity," under the supervision of their teacher, Eda Pınar Tüccaroğlu. Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), Ceylan said the rain water collected from the roof is directed to a wheel and the dynamo connected to the wheel produces electricity. "We mainly produce energy from fossil fuels; however, these resources are dwindling and pollute the environment. Our project neither need lots of funding nor pollutes. It produces clean and sustainable energy," said Ceylan, one of the students who came up with the idea.
The students entered the Science Fair Project Competition organized by the Bursa Science and Technology Center with their project and won first place along with some prize money. Ceylan said he will continue pursuing projects focused on generating sustainable energy.
