Drones that are heavier than 500 grams are to be registered under the civil aviation registration system along with the identities of their owners, according to a new decree passed by the government.
Any owners who do not register on the system will be fined TL 10,000 ($3,379). Also, drones that are bought abroad and used in Turkey should also be registered.
Drone owners that do not register their identities in the system within three days will also be fined TL 5,000.
The fine for flying drones outside areas designated by the Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Ministry is TL 1,000.
Drone owners who fly their drones and do not in accordance with the regulations set by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation will be fined between TL 1,000 to TL 10,000.
