Supporters of the PKK terrorist organization attacked a group of people attending an anti-terrorism rally in Germany's Aschaffenburg city in northwest Bavaria province on Sunday, injuring a police officer.
According to Aschaffenburg police spokesperson, the PKK supporters attacked demonstrators with stones and firecrackers as they were peacefully marching.
A police officer was injured by firecrackers, while a helicopter supported the police to stop the attack of PKK supporters, who hid in a store and were detained afterwards.
The rally was independently organized, and was not affiliated with any non-governmental organizations and was attended by around 650 people.
Mahmut Akkaya, who attended the rally, has reportedly said that around 40 police officers protected the anti-terror rally participants and added they will file a legal complaint against the attackers.
32 PKK supporters who were reportedly detained were released afterwards.
The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the European Union, broke an almost two-year-long ceasefire with the Turkish state, in July 2015, and resumed its armed campaign in which civilians have been targeted. In the clashes, the PKK's losses are estimated at around 4,000 militants. Despite this considerable loss, the terrorist organization seems intent on escalating violence across the country, according to the latest statements by its leaders.
