Egyptian army floods Gaza border tunnels with sea water

The Egyptian army on Friday has started pumping water from the Mediterranean Sea into underground cross-border tunnels connecting Sinai with the blockaded Gaza Strip.
The anti-democratic government in Cairo last year began to destroy hundreds of homes on the Egyptian side of Rafah in order to create a 'buffer zone'.
Egypt's President Fattah El-Sissi headed a bloody military coup in 2013 that resulted in the ouster of the Egypt's first democratically elected president, Mohammed Morsi.
Blockaded by Israel since 2007, Gaza used to receive much-needed supplies through the netwwork of smuggling tunnels on its border with Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.
