Designers and artists from various disciplines like furniture, sculpture, photography and fashion are meeting at the historical Cezayir Restaurant for a four-day activity between May 21 and May 24, bringing design and art together

Atelier187, an international architectural firm, has gathered four artists from different disciplines for "Design Scene Istanbul," which will run until May 24. Opening yesterday, the first installment of the event is an opportunity to see designs and attend workshops and discussions at the historic Cezayir Restaurant.

The free event showcases furniture, fashion, photography and sculpture. Architect, designer and Atelier187 founder Osman Hacıoğlu is presenting his "2015 Furniture Collection," while Spanish fashion designer Susana J. Denia is introducing her summer collection and Julien Aksoy from France is displaying her "Urban Scenes" photography collection. Sculptor Tarkan Güveli is also presenting his special works. All pieces on display were created exclusively for the event. Although it was established as a school by the Italian Workers' Association in 1901, the exhibition venue was renovated in 2005 and began to operate as the Cezayir Restaurant. Featuring 1900s Italian architecture, the building is an inspiration for artists. Interested visitors can also buy any of the displayed works. The event includes DJ performances and live music sets. Hacıoğlu said the participating designers and artists were inspired by each other and have co-designed pieces that reflect multiple perspectives. He also said the event was organized as a series of workshops.
