Painting contest 'My Imaginary China' kicks off in Ankara

The opening reception of the painting contest titled, ‘My Imaginary China,' organized in Ankara's National Library commenced on Dec. 9.
The contest was jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Ankara, the Turkish Ministry of Education and the International Foundation for Scientific and Cultural Research (UBIKAV).
It aims to encourage painting among Turkish students while in unison promote Chinese Culture in Turkey. The winner of the contest will be awarded a TL 3,000 ($861) cash prize and a 10-day trip to China.
Speaking at the event, the Turkish Ministry of Education's Deputy Undersecretary Mustafa Hilmi Çolakoğlu said that Turkish-Chinese relations will not be limited to the field of fine arts; it will expand to all dimensions of education.
UBIKAV head Professor Dr. Bülent Okay reminded in his speech that the eight contenders of the competition will be awarded a trip to China and stressed that all the participants will help build a cultural bridge between the two countries.
In his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Ankara Yu Hongyang, expressed his appreciation of the event and thanked all those who contributed to the organization.
Following the speeches, participants watched cinematography about the contest and visited the painting exhibitions from last year's contestants.
