A Corner in the World X bomontiada ALT continues to host theater performances, music programs and film screenings in December.
Performances
Designed and directed by Semih Fırıncıoğlu as part of the guest artist program Alt+, the dance theater titled "İKİ" ("TWO") aims to create an authentic, meticulous experience which is focused on directly its own reality. The work, the rehearsals of which have been held open to spectators through October, has been created especially for Studio 2, the largest venue of bomontiada ALT. The performance is presented in company with visual and audial designs by five dance/theater artists. It will meet art lovers on Dec. 1, 2, 20 and 23 at 8:30 p.m.
"Bir Evren Tasarlama Denemesi" ("A Universe Designation Experiment"), which was designed and conducted by Nursev Irmak Demirbaş, the first guest of guest artist program ALT 001, will meet art lovers at Studio 1 at bomontiada ALT. The performance, which is about the analysis of the relations between time, space and object, the variation of these relations and creating new constructions of the time, space and object relation, will be presented on Dec. 6 and 9 at 7:00 p.m.
Directed by founding general art director of A Corner in the World Festival, "ELLİPSİS" tells a destruction story of today's minds, which are full of this kind of stories, being inspired by the Ancient Greek tragedy, Trojan Women. It attempts to describe the unpreventable downfall of all systems, adjoining imagination limits, failure of accidentality and rationality with the perception that positions the world and body into the center of the universe. It creates an anarchy of meaning in a world of gods and people, journeys and disasters, wars and losses at conditions where bodies and the place are manipulated by offstage factors within the frame of a complicated story. The performance will be organized on Dec. 6 and 9 at 8:30 p.m. at bomontiada ALT.
Emre Koyuncuoğlu will be a guest of bomontiada ALT with "Punta Atmak," which is a mask theater adaptation of Bertold Brecht's "Der kaukasische Kreidekreis" ("The Caucasian Chalk Circle") on Dec. 13 and 14 at 8:30 p.m. The artist mentions our culture and art treasure's responsibility of recreating awareness.
"All About the Heart" performance, which puts the story of three female characters, who are mentioned in three different operas, on the stage, of contemporary dancer Canan Yücel Pekiçten will be at bomontiada ALT on Dec. 15 and 16 at 8:30 p.m. Der Zwerg Lied's queen, Madam Butterfly's Cio-Cio-San and the female character of Pohjan Neito, which is the first Suomi opera, will be recreated through a female perspective in the performance. Spectators will witness the transformation of these female characters, who were created with a sexist perspective in their originals.
Music Programs
The bomontiada ALT music program will host Hoşnutluk Vadisi Orchestra, comprising of percussion artists, including Canfeza Gündüz, Can Tutuğ, Hazal Döleneken, Nedim Ulusoy, Özgün Tuncer, Tarık Karakoç, Volkan Ergen and Yeşim Tezgören, on Dec. 5.
Known as an improvisation concert series that Berke Can Özcan maintains, bringing together drummers all over the world, Big Beats Big Times will be on the stage at bomontiada ALT on Dec. 12 at 8:30 p.m. Drums with goatskin, cymbals, tape recorders, tapes, thousands of crown caps, bamboos, ropes, wooden shoetrees and fans will take place at the performance.
Amy Salsgiver invites Nohlab & NOS Visuals program will be at bomontiada ALT with "RE-Connect" performance on Dec. 19 at 8:30 p.m. At the event, visuals that are prepared on the computer will be open to manipulation with sound. Performers create a new work together in this way. This symbiotic relation reflects the changing relationship between the world and humans.
Film Screenings
Volkan Ergen's documentary titled "Yeni" ("New"), where he reflects artists in such an independent way, will premiere on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Ergen embraces the ethics of reflecting reality in an obvious way even if he gives a nonlinear story independent of time and space.
Deniz Tortum's films titled "Zaiyat" ("Losses"), which took place at the SXSW Film Festival, and "If Only There Were Peace," which won Best Short Film Award at DokuFest this year, will be screened on Dec. 22 at 5:00 p.m.
Silent films, which are brought together under the theme of dance from different archives of the world, will be at bomontiada ALT on Dec. 15 at 10:00 p.m. as part of the Fourth International Silent Cinema Days. Lolie Fuller's "Danse Serpentine" ("Serpent Dance"), Little Tich's amazing dance shows, Rene Clair's "Entracte" will also perform as part of the Dancing for Silence selection. Musician Özün Usta will accompany the night with his rhythmic performance.
"Manifesto," which includes accepted manifestos such as Pop Art, Futurism, Dadaism, Dogma 95 and Minimalism, will be screened on Dec. 3 at 3:00 p.m. The film focuses on the dialogues between different characters. Directed by Julian Rosefeldt, "David Lynch: Yaşam Sanatı" ("David Lynch: Life Art") will also be screened on the same day at 5:30 p.m. The film brings spectators to a journey from an American pastoral town to Philadelphia's dark streets. The film enlightens the dark sides of Lynch's life, bringing together his art, music and early films, and gives an opportunity to us to understand him as a human and an artist.
Written and directed by François Ozon, "Frantz" will be at bomontiada ALT on Dec. 10 at 3:00 p.m.

The film tells the meeting of a young German who grieves the death of her fiance in France and a mysterious Frenchman who visits the fiance's grave to lay flowers. The film stars Paula Beer and Pierre Niney in the leading roles.
Another film of Ozon's, "L'amant Double" ("The Double Lover") will be also screened on the same day with "Frantz." Chloe, a fragile woman, falls in love with her psychoanalyst, Paul in the film. A few month later she moves in with him, but soon discovers that her lover is concealing a part of his identity.
One of the masterworks of legendary Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski, "Dekalog," which includes 10 TV drama films, each one based on one of the Ten Commandments, will be at bomontiada ALT on Dec. 16 from the first episode to the fifth one and the other episode will be screened on Dec. 17 at 2:00 p.m.
Directed by Pelin Esmer, "İşe Yarar Bir Şey" ("Something Useful") will be screened on Dec. 24 at 3:00 p.m. Written by Barış Bıçakçı, the film stars Başak Köklükaya, Yiğit Özşener and Öykü Karayel in the leading roles.
Written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, "Paterson" will be screened on Dec. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at bomontiada ALT. The film stars Adam Driver and Golshifteh Farahani in the leading roles.
