Design on Tomtom Street to kick off with 'A Tale of Journey'

Design on Tomtom Street is aiming to be a design event that attracts international circles. With its theme ‘A Tale of Journey' the event will be hosted by Tomtom Kırmızı, the Italian High School, Tomtom Gardens, Tomtom Kaptan Street, several pop-up stores at Boğazkesen and other participating stores in the neighborhood

With its theme "A Tale of Journey," Design on Tomtom Street will bring the art, design and shopping world together one more time at the magical neighborhood of the city between Oct. 18 and Oct. 21.

With unique pieces by authentic designers, conversations and workshops on super interesting themes in addition to music at every corner of the festival, the event will take visitors on a fantastic journey to places such as Tomtom Kırmızı, Tomtom Kaptan Street, Italian High school and Tomtom Gardens.

Planned to be realized under the auspices of Beyoğlu Municipality, highly promoted artists of all genres of design circles will meet at Tomtom Kırmızı and the garden of the Italian High School, which have been set up especially for the event Design on Tomtom Street. So many new and distinctive brands along with famous designers will present their products to the taste of visitors. The event will also host the most prominent design brands of the world and Turkey. At the open lounge and cafe

area the garden of Tomtom Kırmızı will be set up and visitors will have the chance to rest and enjoy their time in the magical atmosphere of the venue for four days throughout the festival. During the conversations planned to be held at the Italian High School, there will be such famous Turkish figures as Hazal Kaya, Başak Pelister, Şah Yaycı and Deniz Başıbüyük. While visitors chill out with energy balancing techniques and meditation workshops, they will also enjoy live music performances.

Put into practice by the Executive Committee Members of Tomtom Design Management, Hakan Kodal, Bahar Korçan, Serra Arıkök and Ayşegül Temel, the event, which will be organized for the 5th time , will dazzle visitors with the participation of so many prominent brands. Making a statement on this year's theme, Bahar Korçan said, "This year, we invite you all to 'A Tale of Journey.' Like all journeys, this tale also is full of magic, fantasy, surprising rooms and some positive and negative corners. It's your mission to explore, follow the map and meet wise guides, while it is our mission to open the magic doors for you."

Part of revenue for education fund

The 5th Design on Tomtom Street offers its visitors a colorful world full of arts, music, tastes and shopping in addition to design. Boosting the market for the stores, galleries and all the artisans in the neighborhood, the event is revived every year with the participation of corporations from various sectors, foundations, associations, large-scale retail brands, banks and automotive companies that take creativity as their focus. Bringing design and art lovers of all ages together, the event adds value to designers by rewarding them, gives a way to new business channels and unites young artists with collectors. At the end of every organization, part of the income is donated to the Design on Tomtom Street Education Fund. TL 2 ($0.35) of every ticket sold for the event will be go toward the fund.

Parallel programs

The 5th Design on Tomtom Street, can be followed in parallel with the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial.

Traditional Design Awards

At the event, which will host retail brands that care about design in addition to independent designers, Design Awards, which is traditionally presented within the cooperation of the Registered Brands Association, will find their owners. The awards will be presented in three categories, which are "The Most Characteristic Logo," "The "Most Characteristic Product" and "Best Young Brand."
