According to an evaluation of figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), during the January to September period exports through maritime transportation increased by 5.3 percent going from 54,245,639,000 dollars up to 57,170,154,000. Exports by airway increased exponentially by 184 percent during the January to September period, compared to figures from the same time frame last year, soaring from 5,906,161,000 dollars to 16,797, 447,000 dollars. The highest amount of exports by air during the January to September period took place in August reaching 2,861,103,000 dollars.
Exports by highway and railway transportation dropped in the first nine month period of the year, compared to figures from the year prior. Last year's 37,377,496,000 dollars worth of highway exports dropped by 0.1 percent to 37,333,908,000 dollars.
Last year's nine month figure for railway exports of 932,675,000 dollars decreased by 19 percent during the same time frame this year dropping to 752,995,000 dollars.
The combined total of exports in the same period this year by highway, railway, maritime or air travel reached 113,022,734,000, a 13.6 percent increase compared to last year's figure of 99,443,639,000 dollars.
Exports through other means (fixed means of transport such as post), dropped by 1.3 percent during the same time period going from 981,668,000 dollars from last year to 968,229,000 dollars this year.
