ASELSAN, a Turkish corporation that produces tactical military radios and defense electronic systems, will now be embarking on producing a highly advanced camera system which will not only record visuals, but will also have the capacity to sense sound signals. These cameras, which will be used for surveillance of social events and for border security, will be able to detect suspicious activity within crowded groups and then relay the information to main security headquarters.
These highly technologically advanced devices will be able to act similar to a security officer and have the capacity to alter functions in conjunction with the actions of suspicious individuals. The project will be funded by the European Union. With this project, Aselsan will be the first institution to successfully benefit from the ARTEMIS program which was established by the EU in order to advance their embedded computer systems.
