Industrial production up 3.8 pct in April

Seasonal- and calendar-adjusted industrial production rose by 3.8 percent in April 2015 compared to the same month in 2014, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat). The sectors of industrial production, mining and quarrying index decreased by 5 percent, while the manufacturing index increased by 4.6 percent. The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index rose by 2.1 percent in April 2015 compared to the same month in 2014, the Turkstat report emphasizes.

Seasonal- and calendar-adjusted industrial production remained the same in April 2015 compared to March 2015. The report by Turkstat says that the mining and quarrying index fell by 4.5 percent, while the manufacturing index remained the same. Moreover, the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 2.1 percent in April compared to the previous month. According to the main industrial groupings classification, the largest increase was seen in durable consumer goods by 1.9 percent in April 2015, compared with the previous month. The manufacturing industry classification, on the other hand, saw the largest increase in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 18.3 percent, while the highest decrease was seen in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 20.8 percent.
