DHL Express, the world's leading cross-border express services provider and logistics company, plans to shift many of its operations to Istanbul, which will be a global airline hub with its third airport coming into operation. DHL Express has precipitated its investments both in Turkey and across the world. The company rehas doubled its capacity in Leipzig, Germany, with a 150 million euros worth of investment. John Pearson, the CEO of DHL Express Europe, said the company wants to take part in great investments that are being made as a part of Istanbul's third airport and is set to invest 60 million euros in a regional operation center in cooperation with Istanbul Grand Airport (IGA) – the company that will operate the airport.
Pearson said Turkey is poised to become a regional hub thanks to its magnificent geographical position, adding, "Istanbul's third airport will make the city a regional hub in the Middle East and Eastern Europe over the next five years."
DHL Express Turkey CEO Markus Reckling said the company has taken a good number of steps in Turkey thus far. Pointing to the fact that Turkish entrepreneurs and SMEs have great accomplishments and are making major investments both in the existing airports and the third airport, Reckling said DHL Express's investments in Turkey and across the world will allow Turkish exporters to open up to the world in an easier way.
