The Turkish airline giant, Turkish Airlines (THY), left its mark on the night of the Super Bowl when its Batman vs. Superman commercial was watched by more than 800 million viewers, and is now planning to appear on the screens of millions from all around the world on the night of the Academy Awards - the Oscars - which will take place on Feb. 28. THY has prepared a 60-second spot ad.
THY is Turkey's strongest global brand and is known as the airline with the highest number of destinations. These series of commercials started when Turkish Airlines became the sponsor of the "Batman vs. Superman" movie and was followed by the appearance of the THY ad broadcasted at the Super Bowl, the final night of the American National Football League, the biggest sporting event of the year in the United States. It is relatively difficult to place ads for the Super Bowl.
THY developed a new strategy and had kept its effort in this respect discreet, as many of the world's marketing giants also queue up for this night, just like for the Oscars. Their meticulous efforts worked and THY became the first non-American airline to place an ad.
