Anadolu Agency showcased its infographic news to the press at a special event in Istanbul on Thursday.
The agency's Visual News Editor-in-Chief, Ahmet Sel, gave a presentation on the occasion and said the infographic news department is one of Anadolu Agency's new departments, which was being upgraded.
Sel said Anadolu Agency's graphic editors make infographics on various topics, including politics, life, economics and sports, with the aim of explaining complicated subjects in such a way that it could be understood at a glance.
"We design infographics for television channels in the 16:9 [ratio] and websites. Our infographics contain economics and finance, geography and country, elections and survey results, sports competitions, health, life, culture, biography, national and international statistics and international organizations' reports," Sel said.
"We prepare between four and six infographics, two videographics per day and publish them in 10 languages," he added.
Anadolu Agency Infographics Editor Mevlüt Eren said the agency started producing infographic news last year in April.
"No one will be reading long news. Infographics can show the main topic by saving people from the information pollution and it allows the news to be understood in a very fast way," Eren added.
