New British ambassador to Ankara said on Monday that her visit to the just-concluded Teknofest festival in southeastern Türkiye was "a great opportunity to witness the creativity and innovative capabilities of Türkiye’s young engineers and scientists."
British Ambassador to Ankara Jennifer Elizabeth Anderson, who assumed post last month, posted a video on social media platform X praising the latest edition of Teknofest, the country’s major aerospace and technology festival, which just wrapped up on Sunday.
In the video, Anderson voiced pleasure that the event was held in Şanlıurfa, calling it one of her favorite cities and also saying she was highly impressed.
"This visit was a great opportunity to witness the creativity and innovative capabilities of Türkiye’s young engineers and scientists," she said.
"It was extremely valuable to see Türkiye’s strong technology ecosystem and to discuss new opportunities for cooperation between the U.K. and Türkiye," she added.
Wearing a recognizable red Teknofest jacket, Anderson said she hoped "to return to both Urfa and Teknofest in the coming years," referring to the former name of Şanlıurfa.
"That’s why I’ll be keeping this jacket."
Expressing gratitude for the Teknofest visit, she also thanked Selçuk Bayraktar, chair of the board of trustees of the T3 Foundation and chair of the Teknofest board; Haluk Bayraktar, the chair of SAHA Istanbul Defence & Aerospace Cluster and Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, chair of the board of directors of the T3 Foundation.
