A public prosecutor's office in eastern Turkey has launched an investigation into a Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy, who is accused of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization."
Başkale Public Prosecutor's Office's investigation into HDP deputy Tuğba Hezer came after she reportedly shouldered the coffin of Sıdıka Yıldız, member of the PKK terrorist group, at a funeral ceremony in the eastern Van province on August 28, according to judiciary sources.
Yıldız died following a shootout with Turkish security forces after a police officer was killed when PKK terrorists carried out an attack in eastern Tunceli province.
Last month, a Turkish court had also ordered HDP District Chairman Engin Dursun in eastern Agrı province to be kept under police custody on charges of working with the PKK.
The PKK has been designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU.
